Let me begin by saying that I had nothing to do with creating this figure. In case you're unfamiliar, it's Starfire of the DC comics series Teen Titans, made by Kotobukiya for their "DC Comics Bishoujo Statue" line. The problem is that Starfire does not have a very stable base. The rock she's resting her hands upon is attached to the figure, and that, coupled with her right foot and a small, clear piece of plastic wedged into it to keep it even with the rock's base, are supposed to keep her balanced.
Sadly they do not; many Amazon reviews mentioned how easy it was to tip her over, and when she arrived by mail I saw for myself. The slightest jostle seemed to be received as an earthquake. Her hair is the trouble spot - it is shockingly heavy and solid, much more so than one would think, and as you can see it sweeps around in front of Starfire and the rock pedestal, leading to her falling forward.
I got to thinking about how I could prevent her from tipping, and the result is this small project, sculpted over a fairly dense piece of wood. Warning: large image ahead! Click the image for full resolution.
This is just a placeholder page to dump this image onto for the time being, but I've got some work in progress shots that I'll probably add in sometime.
